Introduction

Every year we understand the effects of global warming. It has also affected Bangladesh. The way in which the intense heat is felt every year has become a matter of great concern. The effect of global warming is not only on the weather but also the health risks of people are increasing. I will try to highlight those issues in today's discussion. Today's discussion will focus on the damage we face in severe heat and ways to get rid of it.

What is heat wave?

A heatwave refers to an overheated state of air. Heatwave refers to the variation of hot weather as well as its unusual persistence over short periods of time.  It can happen only once in a century. In intense heat, heat and sunlight absorb water from the human body resulting in dire effects on human health.

Health risks associated with severe heatstroke

Many risks to human health increase in the sun and unbearable heat. Before we take steps to deal with these health risks, we need to know what health risks we may be exposed to. This matter is discussed in detail below,

Dehydration in the body

Dehydration in the body is more common in intense  and unbearable heat. During this time, due to the low humidity of the air, excess water is removed from the body.

Chances of heat stroke

The most important risk in severe heatstroke is an increased chance of heat stroke. If one stays in this unbearable heat for a long time, his body temperature will rise abnormally and he will not be able to expel this excess heat. Various ailments such as confusion, loss of consciousness, blurred vision, dry skin or profuse sweating, convulsions etc. are seen during this time. This illness is heat stroke or sun stroke. In this case some other symptoms appear like,
  • Rapid heartbeat or breathing.
  • Severe headache or nausea.
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Skin rash, excessive sweating or no sweating.
  • unconsciousness.

Deterioration of human health

Apart from physical diseases, mental diseases are also seen due to unbearable heat. Irritability is more common in this case. When you don't sleep well in extreme heat, mental problems appear.

Chances of heat cramps

Those who work extra hard in this heat sweat more in their body. This sweat reduces salt and moisture levels in the body. Painful cramps occur when the salt content in the muscles decreases. Seizures may also occur.

Possibility of skin diseases

In intense and unbearable heat, the body sweats more. If sweat is more, skin diseases will appear on the body such as scabies, fungal infections. In many cases it is seen that if there is a scratch there is an infection due to itching.

Chances of heat rash

In unbearable heat many times the skin gets irritated and it is called heat rash. This results in pimples or small rashes.

Diarrhea or indigestion

Diarrhea is more likely to occur due to overheating. Food spoils very quickly during this time. Food poisoning may occur if he consumes the food.

Feeling overly tired

In this unbearable heat, the body loses excess salt and water, resulting in excessive fatigue. This is more common in people with high blood pressure. If you have heat exhaustion, you will experience nausea, weakness, headache, irritability, thirst, dizziness, profuse sweating, increased body temperature, reduced urination, etc.

Death due to heat

Every year many people die due to unbearable heat wave. In the foreign country England, this number is around two thousand. In most cases this death is due to heart attack or stroke.

South Asian countries are at risk of extreme heat

Concerns are being expressed that global warming will lead to record excess temperatures in 2024 surpassing those of previous years. "Climate change is much more than (rising) temperatures," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said. He blamed unprecedented ocean warming, retreating glaciers and shrinking Antarctic sea ice as reasons for concern.

Countries including Asia are facing the extreme reality of climate change this year. Among them are Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, including several South Asian countries. Temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius have been felt in these countries. On the other hand, the maximum temperature of 50 degrees Celsius was felt in Iran last year. Below are the temperature conditions of various countries in Asia.
